We measure video playback by running the short film Big Buck Bunny (H.264 coding, 1920x1080 pixels) in a continuous loop. The profile "Balanced" is activated and the display's brightness is around 150 cd/m 2. During this test websites are automatically called up in 40-second intervals. Once more the Z20t-B (12:40 h) shows a better performance. The HP convertible terminates our practically oriented WLAN test after 8:19 h. The runtime under load is assessed with the Battery Eater Classic Test: The screen is set to maximum brightness and the high-performance profile as well as all radio modules are activated. Once again the Portégé (5:48) is much more durable. ![]() Under load the EliteBook shuts down after 1:53 h. The idle mode is tested with the Battery Eater Reader's Test: The screen is set to the lowest brightness level, the energy-saving profile is activated and all radio modules are disabled. Competitors such as the Toshiba Portégé Z20t-B-10C (26:56 h) last significantly longer. The EliteBook achieves a runtime of 18:23 h in idle mode. 2.9 GHz), the Broadwell processor performs about 5 to 20% better than its Haswell predecessor. Due to the improvements of the Broadwell architecture and the higher first turbo level (3.1 GHz vs. The latter uses a lower base speed (2.1 GHz) and a somewhat higher maximum speed (3.3 GHz). The Core i7-5600U processor is the successor of the Core i7-4600U CPU (Haswell). Those who want to use the turbo in both modes need to activate the option "Enable Turbo Boost on DC" in the BIOS setup. The deactivation of the turbo during battery mode was intentional by HP. In battery mode the CPU runs at a constant 2.6 GHz (=base speed). Thus the multithread performance lies far behind the CPU's capabilities. ![]() Single-thread tests are run at 3.1 to 3.2 GHz and multithread tests at 2.7 to 2.8 GHz. The turbo allows speeds of up to 3.1 GHz (dual-core) and 3.2 GHz (single-core) respectively however, it can only be activated in power-supply mode. The processor runs at a base speed of 2.6 GHz. ![]() The CPU is part of Intel's Broadwell processor range. Our test configuration uses one of the most powerful ULV processors that Intel currently has to offer, the dual-core processor Core i7-5600U.
